Winter, Wyman in the Community
At Winter, Wyman, not only are we dedicated to helping our candidates and clients grow, but we are committed to being a good corporate citizen. We feel strongly that our firm and employees have been fortunate in their careers and educational opportunities and that we have an obligation to give back to those who have been less fortunate. We have a Manager of Community Development who oversees all volunteer services, committee activities and donations.
We are extremely proud that more than 92% of our employees participate in company-sponsored community service activities or drives during work hours and personal time. Such acts range from fulfilling the holiday wish lists of DSS children, to donating computer equipment to the Waltham Boys and Girls Club Teen Center (and sending our Help Desk to set it up and install appropriate software and firewalls), to reading to young children and distributing free books via the ReadBoston Summer Storymobile, to teaching second graders economics and business through Junior Achievement's JA in a Day. We regularly serve lunch at a Boston haven for homeless women and throw a birthday party for the children in a local shelter.
In 2010, we participated in 31 community development events, fulfilled the holiday wish lists of 50 DSS children, held two drives (for clothing and toys), awarded four educational grants and four charitable grants and put in 572 volunteer hours. Also in 2010, we continued our tradition of awarding a holiday donation to a local non-profit. 2010's recipient, Franciscan Hospital for Children, will use the donation to renovate their Occupational Therapy Room.
