Winter, Wyman Funds Arts, Music & Movement Program with a $20,000 Donation to The Home For Little Wanderers
Waltham, MA (November 1, 2007)-The holiday season is filled with wonder and anticipation for youngsters looking forward to getting gifts and spending time with family. This year, the 160 employees of local staffing firm The Winter, Wyman Companies have decided to give a special group of children an enrichment experience that will bring them even more joy and wonder throughout the year. The employees voted to forgo the company’s annual holiday party and instead fund the launch of an Art, Music and Movement Experience at The Home For Little Wanderers’ Parents’ Center at Saltonstall House. The Home For Little Wanderers was chosen from several proposals submitted by area non-profit organizations.
Saltonstall House in Brighton, Massachusetts, provides a secure setting to children, ages 3 and under who have been victims of abuse or neglect. The staff at Saltonstall House, working as a team, provides an integrated service of educational programming, therapeutic and support services for children and families.
“We truly appreciate all that the employees at Winter, Wyman have done to develop a relationship with our staff and kids and to improve their lives. We are honored to accept this generous donation for a group of very special children,” said Scott Inman, The Home For Little Wanderers’ Senior Corporate Relations Manager. “Often children who have endured trauma need a variety of ways to express their feelings. The Winter, Wyman donation will enable us to launch the Art, Music and Movement Experience, which will not only expose children to fun and exciting opportunities, but will provide important tools for self-expression. The program also allows children to have different means to share their stories, bringing them therapeutic creative arts programming that they would never have been exposed to otherwise.”
“Winter, Wyman actively supports our community through a variety of donations and in-service work, but this year we also decided to make a real difference in the minds, hearts and development of a group of children,” said Bob Boudreau, CEO of Winter, Wyman. “We could think of no better way to celebrate the holidays as a company than to help out The Home For Little Wanderers.”
The Art, Music and Movement Program features many activities including:
• Bi-weekly music classes for learning songs and dances taught by a trained musician
• Bi-weekly therapeutic art classes and all of the art supplies necessary
• The establishment of an Art and Music Field Trip Fund
• Gross motor equipment for indoor use to encourage physical activity
