The one piece of advice I always give to employers or job seekers is:
You should be evaluating any job (current or perspective future opportunity) by 3 questions:
1 - Is this opportunity allowing me to make my skills that much more desirable and marketable?
2 - Will this position present me with new challenges that will allow me to grow as an engineer?
3 - Are there smart people that I will be working with in a collaborative environment to learn from?
The biggest mistake I see employers or job seekers make is:
Staying put at a job because they are comfortable and it's the easy choice, when in reality they are not getting any better as an engineer, doing the same thing day after day.
